GET A SCHOLARSHIP TO P.S.S.

 

Here's an opportunity to get a scholarship to Portsmouth Secondary School. ​

  The Dominica Northern Association for Community Advancement Scholarship Program uses a comprehensive approach to addressing the financial, academic, and socio-emotional needs of students pursuing secondary education.

 

Accordingly, scholars in the program will receive financial and educational support, mentoring services, and the opportunity to participate in internships and community service activities.

 

By adopting this strategy, the DNACA fulfills its vision of enhancing the general well-being and improving the quality of life of young people and their communities and its mission of leveraging the drive, expertise, and experience of bonded friends to advance educational development and enhance and improve the socioeconomic status of families in the Portsmouth Community and beyond. This approach will ensure that scholars in the program excel academically and ultimately become citizens of outstanding character, integrity, and a commitment to community engagement and service.

 

One scholarship of up to $1,000 will be awarded. The recipient can renew the award for up to five years. The recipient must maintain satisfactory academic performance and meet other program requirements to be eligible to renew.

The scholarship will be awarded based on financial need and demonstrated desire and motivation for academic success. Applicants are required to complete a scholarship application, write an essay, and participate in follow-up interviews.

 

Applicants must meet the criteria below to be eligible for this scholarship:

• Enrolled in one of the area schools zoned to the Portsmouth Secondary School (PSS).

• Plan to attend the PSS in the upcoming school year.

• Is not a recipient of a Government scholarship or bursary or a recipient of financial support from a non-governmental agency.

• Demonstrate financial need.

• Demonstrate a desire and motivation for academic success.
